Established in 1906 Queen Alexandra Cottage Homes is Eastbourne's oldest Charity (Registered Charity No providing high-quality nursing and palliative care in a safe and friendly environment for 28 residents.
HOURS: 9-3 (includes some weekends)
JOB PROFILE: The Domestic Assistant is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the Homes.
CLEANING
To carry out all daily, weekly and monthly tasks as requested by the Domestic Supervisor and also clean the communal areas of The Homes.
To assist in the Laundry Room as and when required.
To clean communal areas and private flats in the Independent Living section if required.
To have an efficient and economical approach to the supplies provided.
To ensure that all cleaning and laundry duties are carried out in accordance with current legislation and in line with Queen Alexandra Cottage Homes' own Policies and Procedures.
RESIDENTS
To treat residents with respect, friendliness and compassion at all times.
To be discreet and uphold confidentiality whilst ensuring the individual resident's dignity is maintained.
To ensure that residents' property is treated with respect.
DOCUMENTATION / DIGITAL SYSTEMS
To ensure accurate records are being completed using our digital systems and paper-based records, on the understanding that they will be audited regularly by senior staff.
EQUIPMENT
To maintain the domestic equipment with basic routine servicing eg emptying bags, removing obstructions etc.
To move, withdraw and report defective equipment and notify the Domestic Supervisor(s) of the action taken.
COMMUNICATION
To liaise with the Domestic Supervisor(s) regarding allocation of daily duties.
To attend regular supervision, appraisal, team and general staff meetings as required.
SAFETY, TRAINING AND GENERAL
To have knowledge of and comply with infection control and hygiene procedures, Health and Safety and COSHH regulations.
To report any accidents or near misses.
To be willing to complete all mandatory training as requested (on our Elfy digital system or in-house) and to be responsible for ensuring renewal courses are completed before becoming overdue.
To perform any other cleaning duty normally expected of a Domestic Assistant and any further duties as may reasonably be required by the Domestic Supervisor(s) / Registered Manager.
To be aware not to bring the name of Queen Alexandra Cottage Homes into disrepute through the inappropriate use of social media.
To promote the good name of Queen Alexandra Cottage Homes at all times; in conduct, appearance and performance of duties.
