Chief of Staff

The Role:

We're hiring for a Chief of Staff to the CEO, James Dacombe, to work across Flux and CoMind. This role acts as the force multiplier for the CEO, turning vision into execution, ensuring priorities are clear, decisions are followed through, and the organisation operates at maximum leverage. You'll bridge strategy, operations, and communication, freeing the CEO to focus on his key initiatives. This is a high-impact, high-trust role that sits at the centre of one of Europe's most ambitious deep-tech ecosystems.

Based full-time at CoMind and Flux's King's Cross, London HQs (5 days per week) with regular travel. This is an intense, high-velocity role for someone who thrives on challenge, lives and breathes their work, and wants to make a profound impact. Responsibilities

Strategic Alignment & Execution

• Translate the CEO's goals into clear, measurable company priorities across Flux, CoMind, and Bletchley.

• Track progress against key initiatives and hold teams accountable to outcomes.

• Run the company's operating cadences — weekly leadership meetings, quarterly reviews, and board updates.

• Identify bottlenecks or misalignments early and drive resolution.

• Lead high-impact, cross-functional projects and strategic workstreams.

• Support fundraising, partnerships, and major strategic transactions from concept through diligence and closing.

Communication & Executive Interface

• Act as a thought partner and proxy for the CEO — drafting memos, investor letters, and internal communications.

• Ensure crisp communication between the CEO and leadership team: decisions made, actions tracked, and context shared.

• Represent the CEO in meetings when priorities conflict or direct involvement isn't required.

• Draft investor decks and major company communications.

Cross-Company Coordination

• For a group structure like Bletchley Industries, coordinate priorities, reporting, and talent across Flux CoMind Bletchley.

• Support creation of shared services (Finance, HR, Legal, Comms, Ops).

Investor, Capital, and Deal Support

• Prepare investor updates, fundraising materials, and board packs.

• Manage diligence processes, data rooms, and term sheet negotiations.

• Liaise with bankers, lawyers, and investors on behalf of the CEO.

• Prepare the CEO for board meetings, financing discussions, and major deal reviews.

Operational Efficiency & Special Projects

• Identify inefficiencies or friction points and fix them proactively.

• Run cross-functional projects that don't neatly fit within one department.

• Serve as interim owner for new initiatives until a dedicated team is hired.

Advisor, Confidant, and Strategic Filter

• Act as a trusted sounding board for sensitive or complex decisions.

• Challenge thinking, refine strategy, and pressure-test ideas before they go public.

• Provide honest feedback and alternative viewpoints with discretion and trust above all else.

What this role will provide

This role offers a rare front-row seat inside two of the most ambitious and fast-scaling deep-tech companies in Europe. You'll work across Flux and CoMind, both operating at the cutting edge of AI hardware and neurotechnology, tackling deeply complex, high-impact problems that few get the chance to experience firsthand. You'll collaborate directly with the CEO, C-suite leaders, world-class investors, and major customers, while also diving into the details of engineering, product, and operations.

You'll be exposed to everything from fundraising and deal-making to strategic planning and execution, gaining an inside view of how startups are truly built, from zero to scale. The role will be fast-paced and ever-evolving; no two days will look the same.
