Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Stable Yard Groom to join our team on our Private Dressage Yard in Tadley, Hampshire. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the daily care and maintenance of horses and their environment, ensuring a clean, safe, and healthy atmosphere, whilst supporting the Equestrian Yard Manager in the day to day care of the horses. This role requires a passion for animal care and the ability to perform various maintenance tasks around the stable yard.
Duties
- Staff employed on the yard are required to take care of the competition and family horses, all set in the beautiful estate dating back to medieval times.
- Provide daily grooming, feeding, and care for horses, ensuring their health and wellbeing.
- Maintain cleanliness of stables, paddocks, and surrounding areas by mucking out stables.
- Conduct heavy lifting when moving feed, bedding, or equipment.
- Utilise basic maths skills for measuring feed quantities and maintaining records of supplies.
- Monitor the condition of horses and report any health issues to management.
Skills
- The ideal candidate is not required to have a dressage backgroud, however must have an interest and eye for detail needed with Sport Horses.
- Strong knowledge of animal care practices and horse handling.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required in daily tasks.
- Have a capability of handling Stallions, Foals and Youngstock.
- Ability to Muck out to a high standard.
- Equine First Aid is preferable.
- Plaiting and Clipping.
- Assist in Equipment ordering.
- To have initiative and Excellent time keeping.
- Ability to maintain close and important relationships with our Clients, Vets, Farriers, direct and Wider team members.
- A proactive attitude towards maintenance duties around the stable yard. We welcome applications from individuals who are passionate about animal welfare and possess the necessary skills to thrive in this role.
