Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Playgroup Assistant to support preschool aged children with special educational needs, including those with autism. This role involves working closely with children, providing educational and behavioural support in a nurturing environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in special education needs along with excellent communication skills. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact while developing valuable skills in a supportive setting.
Duties
- Assist a preschool child with SENs in daily activities and learning tasks
- Support behavioural development through individualised strategies
- Facilitate communication using appropriate methods tailored to the preschool childs individual's needs
- Provide care and supervision for a preschool child in various areas of the setting
- Collaborate with the playgroup leader, therapists, and families to implement targets set out in a childs individual PLP
- Assist in organising activities that promote social interaction, learning, and development
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised environment conducive to learning and growth
- Document progress and communicate effectively with team and playgroup leader regarding individual needs
Qualifications
Essential Criteria:
NVQ LEVEL 3 Early Years Care and Education or Equivalent
Awareness and Implementation of the preschool curriculum
Understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding
Ability to follow agreed systems and plans within a preschool setting
Work as a team
Ability to support child centered learning and assist with the management of the preschool learning environment
Desirable
Specific experience of working with children with SEN
Specific training linked to SEN such as;
Speech, Language and Communication Needs
Cognitive and Learning
Social, Emotional and Wellbeing
Sensory Needs
Physical needs
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 per week
