Reporting to the estate manager you'll be a key part of the team. This role combines elements of security, ensuring the estate remains safe, orderly, and welcoming to residents, guests, and staff at all times. The Night Porter acts as the primary point of contact for any after-hours needs and is entrusted with upholding the estate's standards of excellence. It is a private estate and keeping the family happy is paramount, so some experience with customer service or private households would be preferable.

Key Responsibilities

· Security and Surveillance:

· Monitor CCTV and alarm systems, responding promptly to any alerts or unusual activity.

· Challenge and verify the identity of any late-night visitors or vehicles entering the estate, following set procedures for access control.

· Keeping the site log up to date with arrivals and departures.

· Liaise with external security services as required.

· Keep accurate incident logs and produce reports for management as necessary.

· Complete nightly checklists and handover reports for estate management and day staff.

Required Skills and Qualities

· Professionalism: Maintain a high standard of personal presentation and conduct in line with the estate's expectations.

· Discretion and Integrity: Handle confidential information with sensitivity; respect the privacy of residents and guests at all times.

· Attention to Detail: Spot and address issues proactively, ensuring nothing is overlooked during the quiet hours.

· Problem-Solving: Respond calmly and efficiently to any incidents or unexpected situations that may arise at night.

· Communication: Demonstrate clear, professional communication with colleagues, residents, and management.

Desirable Experience

· Previous experience in security, hospitality, facilities management, or a similar role is desirable.

· Basic first aid is advantageous.

· Competence with security systems, radios, and basic maintenance tools is expected.

Working Hours and Conditions

· Night Porters may be expected to work weekends and public holidays as needed.

· Professional attire expected; confidentiality and discretion are paramount at all times.

Personal Qualities Sought

· A trustworthy and reliable individual with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

· Ability to work autonomously during unsupervised hours, demonstrating initiative and sound judgement.

· Respectful, polite, and capable of interacting with people from diverse backgrounds.

Application Process

Interested candidates should submit a comprehensive CV and cover letter detailing their suitability for the role. References will be required, and shortlisted applicants may be invited for interview and an assessment of relevant skills.

If you thrive in a quiet, responsible role and take pride in safeguarding people and property, this might be the job for you.
