Apollo Active CIC is a youth-focused, accredited education and sports provider working across the Liverpool City Region. We deliver free, inclusive, and high-quality programmes that use sport to engage, educate, and inspire young people.

We are seeking a passionate Youth Workers / Youth Support Workers to join our team, playing a key role in our detached youth work programmes. This role is all about connecting with young people where they are, in parks, town centres, and community spaces building trust, breaking down barriers, and using sport as a catalyst for positive change.

You'll work alongside some of the best sporting partners in the UK, including NFL Jacksonville Jaguars (JagTag), Steven Gerrard Academy, England Athletics, LTA Tennis, and The Golf Foundation, Apollo JFC, helping young people to access exciting sports, accredited qualifications, and real progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with young people in community spaces through detached youth work, building trusted relationships that encourage participation and personal growth.
  • Deliver fun, safe, and inclusive multi-sport sessions in partnership with our national sporting partners.
  • Identify and support young people at risk of disengagement, anti-social behaviour, or social isolation, providing guidance and early intervention.
  • Facilitate group activities that develop teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, schools, and community stakeholders to ensure a joined-up approach to youth development.
  • Help young people access further training, education, and volunteering opportunities within Apollo Active and beyond.
  • Maintain accurate session reports, safeguarding records, and outcomes data.
  • Uphold Apollo Active's safeguarding and behaviour management policies, ensuring a safe and positive environment at all times.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience engaging and supporting young people in a detached, outreach, or community setting.
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills, with the ability to connect with diverse groups of young people.
  • Confidence in leading or supporting sports and physical activity sessions (training can be provided).
  • Understanding of youth work principles and the social challenges affecting young people today.
  • Awareness of safeguarding, equality, and inclusion in a youth work context.
  • Knowledge of local communities across Knowsley and the Liverpool City Region is an advantage.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends, as part of a responsive detached youth work rota.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £12,500.00-£25,000.00 per year

Expected hours: No less than 12 per week
