A Day in the Life

The Senior Employee & Labour Relations (ELR) Partner UK & Ireland is responsible for building strong relationships between employees and managers. The role takes a proactive approach to Employee & Labour Relations by supporting managers, identifying trends, recommending solutions that address root cause of issues, and partnering with leadership on the execution of key strategies while maintaining a neutral position.  The ELR Partner works directly with leaders, managers and employees to provide advice and coach both parties on all Employee Relations issues.

Flexible working arrangement, the role can be office-based or remote, but occasional travel to the Watford office and Ireland will be required.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Partner with managers and HR colleagues to provide expert guidance on a range of employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary actions, restructuring, and conflict resolution
  • Support investigations and provide advice on legal and policy-related issues, ensuring compliance with company standards and employment law
  • Assess and resolve complex employee relations cases, ensuring consistency and alignment across business groups and adherence to Medtronic's policies and practices
  • Act as a trusted advisor and single point of contact for employee relations matters, ensuring clear, timely, and effective communication
  • Promote a fair, consistent, and positive work culture by reinforcing equitable application of policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with HR and business leaders to identify trends, mitigate risks, and enhance the employee experience

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience working in an HR environment
  • Strong and up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law (knowledge of Irish employment legislation is an advantage)
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively, with remote support from the ELR team.
  • Strong emotional intelligence, with the ability to build trusted relationships quickly with key stakeholders
  • Confidence to have difficult conversations and to challenge or push back when necessary
