Graduate Trainee Paraplanner - Financial Planning

Beechwood Financial Services is a well-established, professional firm of Chartered Financial Planners based in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. Founded in 1978 and located in the town centre since 1983, we have built a long-standing and affluent client base, together with an excellent reputation in the local area.

We provide comprehensive financial planning, including:

  • Pension and retirement advice,
  • Savings and Investments,
  • Inheritance tax (IHT) planning,

We also advise in a number of specialist areas such as finances on divorce, trust planning, and redundancy counselling. We are now seeking a Graduate Trainee Paraplanner to join our busy and growing team.

Role Overview:

This is an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career in financial planning. As a Paraplanner, you will work closely with our team of Financial Advisers to support the delivery of high quality advice to clients. The role is varied and will include:

  • Preparing for and attending client meetings with Advisers.
  • Taking detailed meeting notes and carrying out follow-up actions.
  • Research and analysis of clients' existing pensions, savings, and investments.
  • Drafting clear, comprehensive recommendation reports.
  • Preparing client cashflow forecasts using leading financial planning software.
  • Undertaking technical research and completing tax, pension, and other calculations.
  • Liaising with clients and the administration team to ensure smooth delivery of ongoing work.

About You:

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level and demonstrate a broad range of skills. We welcome graduates from all disciplines; a background in business or finance is not a requirement. You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to produce professional reports.
  • Confident and clear communication with clients and colleagues.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Good level of basic numeracy.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • A willingness to learn quickly and work towards professional qualifications.
  • The ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
