Engagement Coordinator, Centre for Climate Repair

Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom University of Cambridge Full time £25,000 - £35,000 per year

About us:

The Centre for Climate Repair (CCR) is a multi-disciplinary centre hosted in the Department of Applied Mathematics & Theoretical Physics (DAMTP). The Director, Shaun Fitzgerald, together with support from 3 Deputy Directors, the Programme Manager and an Executive Board provides strategic oversight and direction for the centre.

CCR is focused on supporting research to further knowledge on three main areas: emissions Reduction; greenhouse gas Removal; and Refreezing the Arctic ). Most of the research activities are in the Removal and Refreeze areas, the latter of which is also known as Climate Interventions or Geoengineering.

The centre works with multiple departments across the University of Cambridge to help fund projects, PhD studentships, Postdoctoral positions and internships in the climate repair research space. One vital part of our research is engaging with the various stakeholders and communities and ensuring that lessons learned from previous projects are incorporated in our work moving forward.

The Role:

CCR is looking for a self-motivated, dynamic and organised individual with strong communication and engagement skills to help deliver our mission to promote interdisciplinary collaboration across the University, other national/international institutions, and industry partners.

Reporting to the Programme Manager, the role holder is expected to assist with the development of CCR and its research by fostering new relationships and research opportunities and crucially help develop opportunities for networking and collaboration with stakeholders regarding any outdoor experiments.

The Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for creating and implementing the Centre's stakeholder engagement and public engagement plan as well as confidentially help with media public relations and event organisation. You will work alongside the Communications Assistant, who will work with you to execute the engagement plan for the Centre's projects.

The role will help expand CCR's community and help increase awareness of CCR and its activities and support existing and new collaborations.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we continue to expand our network of partner organisations and research topics. You will be part of a friendly and collaborative team, responsible for managing and developing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You will also play a key role in identifying and engaging organisations and communities who may have a personal stake and/or interest in our research areas.

Fixed term: The funds for this post are available for 12 months in the first instance and may be extended subject to the availability of funding. This post is part time at 0.6 FTE.

About you:

The successful applicant will be someone who enjoys working with people, is proactive and adaptable, and thrives on making connections. You will be an effective networker who builds strong relationships across sectors and with stakeholders at all levels. You will bring creativity and curiosity to your work, always looking for new ways to engage organisations and help inform project decision-making. You will also have experience of planning and delivering events.

The successful candidate will be pivotal in helping to expand CCR's community and help increase awareness of the Centre and its activities and support existing and new collaborations.

All CCR staff follow a hybrid working pattern, and although CCR is located within the Department of Applied Maths and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP) on Wilberforce Road, some travel to the Department of Engineering on Trumpington Street will be required.

A scientific background is not required for this role, but an interest in supporting research in this area would be beneficial.
