Senior Associate Mechanical Engineer – Healthcare (Leeds)
For mechanical engineers who want their decisions to matter — clinically, technically, and strategically.
If you've spent years delivering complex healthcare buildings and are now ready to set direction rather than just follow it, this role puts you exactly where you should be: shaping strategy, leading programmes, and influencing outcomes that genuinely impact patient care.
This is a senior leadership role with regional influence, designed for a Mechanical Engineer who understands that in healthcare, engineering performance isn't optional — it's critical.
The Opportunity
You'll take ownership of mechanical strategy across major, high-risk healthcare programmes, ensuring systems meet strict clinical, operational, and sustainability requirements from concept through delivery.
You'll operate as a trusted advisor to senior clients and stakeholders, balancing:
Technical excellence
Clinical compliance
Commercial performance
Programme certainty
In short: fewer surprises, better buildings, safer outcomes.
What you'll be doing
Setting and leading mechanical design strategy across large-scale healthcare schemes
Acting as a senior client partner, presenting solutions and guiding key decisions
Leading multi-disciplinary teams with accountability for quality, risk, and delivery
Managing resources, fees, governance, and commercial performance
Coaching associates, senior engineers, and future leaders
Driving innovation, modern methods of design and delivery, and technical advantage
Representing mechanical engineering authority within project teams and external forums
What will make you a strong fit
Extensive experience delivering healthcare-sector mechanical engineering projects
Proven leadership on major or highly complex schemes
Deep technical expertise across HVAC and mechanical building services
Confidence influencing senior stakeholders, clinicians, and project leaders
Strong commercial judgement and delivery management capability
Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and associated digital tools
Excellent knowledge of British Standards, HTMs, and healthcare regulations
Why Senior Mechanical Engineers choose roles like this:
Because it's where:
Engineering decisions directly affect patient safety and clinical outcomes
You lead strategy, not just packages
Your experience shapes teams, programmes, and future leaders
Technical authority and commercial awareness finally sit in the same seat
If you're ready to move from project delivery to engineering leadership with real consequence, this role is built for you.
And yes — your spreadsheets will still be busy. But this time, they'll be shaping hospitals, not just chasing fees.
Salary: £63,250 – £79,500 + £5,580 Allowance + Travel Allowance
