Quantity Surveyor Opportunity

My client is one of the UK's biggest housebuilders building quality homes nationwide. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of key developments, the company is now seeking an experienced and driven Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial Team. This is a pivotal role within the business, providing commercial leadership across multiple residential projects in the North Midlands region.

Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, you will take full ownership of cost management, commercial strategy, and team development to ensure the financial success of high-value developments.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for:

  • Leading the commercial delivery of multiple residential projects, ensuring cost efficiency and profitability
  • Preparing and managing detailed cost plans, budgets, and financial forecasts for large-scale developments
  • Overseeing valuations, cost reporting, and performance monitoring to maintain robust financial control
  • Managing the procurement process and leading negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Identifying, analysing, and mitigating commercial and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle
  • Providing strategic input to commercial decision-making and advising senior stakeholders
  • Mentoring and supporting junior members of the commercial team, ensuring high standards of performance
  • Ensuring compliance with company procedures, policies, and governance while maintaining detailed cost reporting and documentation

Senior Quantity Surveyor Requirements:

  • HND or higher qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or equivalent
  • Proven experience working for a housebuilder or within the residential development sector
  • Strong commercial acumen with a deep understanding of cost planning, procurement, and risk management
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Proficient with COINs and other relevant estimating or cost management software
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop a small team
  • Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
