We're looking for a proactive, flexible, and reliable Senior / Associate Structural Engineer to join our team, with experience in a similar role and who possesses a recognised structural engineering qualification. Working across a variety of projects both autonomously and as part of a wider team, tasks you will be required to undertake as part of your role include (but are not limited to):

  • Maintain and manage strong client relationships and identify business development opportunities and prepare / review fee proposal letters
  • To liaise with clients, manage projects from inception to completion, including invoicing
  • Attend site to undertake site inspections and investigations to suit project requirements
  • Support management of junior team of engineers and carry out reviews
  • Work within agreed project time frame and budget and manage commercial performance of projects
  • Be aware of the financial performance of the business unit and take responsibility for meeting targets

Provide continuous high-quality Structural Engineering services to our customers, including but not limited to:

  • Undertake detailed desk top studies, detailed design reviews of structural design information carried out by 3rd parties
  • Provide advisory support and carry out site visits during construction stage and building investigations
  • Prepare assessment, inspection and investigations reports
  • Undertake structural risk assessments of new and existing buildings
  • Identify defects in design and being able to communicate findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Have a clear understanding of structural engineering issues, (including interfaces with fire and façade), and provide well supported engineering solutions through the selection of appropriate methods and tools
  • Be familiar with all relevant legislation and ensure that procedures are updated accordingly
  • Manage projects from inception to completion and be responsible for the associated invoicing

  • At least seven years' experience in engineering
  • An accredited honours degree or equivalent in civil/structural engineering
  • Chartered with the Institution of Civil and/or Structural Engineers
  • To be passionate about structural engineering
  • Confident communicator, good customer service skills
  • Self-motivated, able to prioritise and work on own initiative, as well as following instructions and working as part of a team
  • Numerate, and organised with attention to detail
  • Professional appearance and behaviour
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet customer needs and changing priorities
  • Reliable, punctual, honest and trustworthy

Desirable:

  • Excellent computer skills, particularly with regards to Microsoft Word / Outlook, Bluebeam and commonly used industry structural analysis and design software packages (Tekla Tedds, Robot, Scia Engineer etc)
