are looking for a super Project planner to provide support to the Project Controls Manager on simple scheduling/planning tasks on live projects and proposals.

  • You must have demonstrated experience in using Primavera P6, performing resource levelling, or managing deliverables through P6 or an MDR.
  • Penspen are looking to identify someone who has hands-on project delivery experience using Primavera P6

Main Purpose Of Role
Planner to support the EPM (Engineering Project Management) portfolio. You will partner with the Head of Projects and the Project Controls Manager on tender schedules and active project schedules across the portfolio.

Knowledge / Experience (Skills)

  • Pipeline project exposure beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6 and familiarity with SharePoint.
  • Working knowledge of Progress measurement systems like Ecosys , Prism etc would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of ERP / Agresso would be advantageous.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel/PowerPoint/Word).
  • Clear, concise communicator with the confidence to liaise across functions and with external stakeholders.
  • Proactive, organised, and adaptable; able to gather inputs and drive schedule discipline.
  • Team-oriented with sound professional ethics.

Qualifications

  • Professional registration with PMP / APMP, etc is desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (engineering, project management, or similar) is desirable
  • 2–3 years' experience as a Planner in Oil & Gas, Nuclear or Manufacturing; consultancy experience advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Controls Manager in building, maintaining, and governing schedules across the EPM portfolio.

  • Should be able to Resource load in P6 and manage P6 and also report Resource requirements and shortfalls to management for taking actions.
  • Should be aware of Resource Overallocations/ Under allocations on P6 and update/ amend based on inputs from Agresso and Project Management.
  • Lead/attend contractor progress meetings; capture actions and update schedule work packages.
  • Maintain the integrated master schedule and align it with the Progress Measurement System.
  • Produce routine and ad-hoc reports for EPM/Project Controls (schedule updates, KPIs/EVM, forecasts to completion, variance analysis, and recovery opportunities).
  • Monitor compliance with contractual and internal procedures; highlight risks and deviations early.
  • Validate contractor progress against the Master Deliverables Register (MDR) and escalate discrepancies promptly.
  • Collaborate with the Head/Manager of Projects on preventative actions to avoid cost and schedule overruns.
  • Own weekly MDR updates for assigned projects; report slippages and recommended actions to Project Management and Engineering.
  • Review schedule forecasts with the Project Manager and Engineering leadership; agree mitigations and re-baselining where required.
  • Support the Tendering/Proposals team by preparing tender schedules and planning inputs (assumptions, calendars, manpower histograms, key milestones).
  • Curate and maintain the Lessons Learned register and ensure close-out actions are captured.
  • Report against established EPM KPIs (e.g., earned value, productivity) at the frequency defined by EPM.
  • Prepare periodic status and look-ahead reports using input from the Document Management System, EPM, and Engineering disciplines.
  • Support the Manager of Projects in maintaining the company-wide resource plan and reporting overall resource availability.
  • Prepare client reports to agreed cut-off dates, highlighting progress, shortfalls, and concerns.
  • Provide planning inputs to the project risk register and track schedule risk actions.
  • Support the Manager of Projects in developing/improving company and project procedures for planning & project controls.
  • Coordinate recurring governance forums (e.g., progress reviews, look-ahead/constraint meetings) and ensure actions are closed.
  • Assist on proposals and tender submissions as required.
