Information Security Projects Team Lead – Cyber Essentials Assessor

The Smartdesc Information Security Team deliver projects to our customers in the Not-for-Profit sector that support our customers in managing and reducing their Information Security risks.
This role will have a strong focus on delivering Information Security projects including Cyber Essentials basic and Cyber Essentials Plus Assessments to our customers.
As an Information Security Officer your role will begin with assisting in the delivery of projects to our customers including a large rollout of Security improvements to one of our customers with 115 federated organisations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
You should be a good communicator, enthusiastic and able to lead a team of Security Officers and Cyber Essentials assessors. This is a client-facing job and you may be required to occasionally travel around the UK.
You should have as a minimum Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus assessor qualifications preferably as a Lead Assessor. If you hold pen-testing qualifications and are a lead assessor, it will be an added advantage.
- Be up to date with relevant industry standards (e.g. IASME standard, NCSC Cyber Essentials scheme)
- Assess clients on Cyber Essentials self-certification submissions
- Independently assess clients to Cyber Essentials Plus standard
- Perform security reviews for firewalls, web applications, networks, Windows, Linux, MacOS and other operating systems
- Review of access controls, computer configuration, Active Directory, and system group policies
- Perform vulnerability assessments on systems, networks and websites using automated scanning tools and other network discovery and analysis tools
- Maintain working papers to ensure that adequate documentation exists to support the completed audit and conclusions
- Prepare and present written and oral reports and other technical information in a pertinent, concise, and accurate manner for distribution to clients
- Provide proactive advice to clients on good security practices
- Lead the team of Cyber Essentials Assessors on Cyber Essentials project and other relevant projects such as vulnerability scanning and coordinating Penetration Tests.
