Senior Keyworker for Children and Young People (CYP) with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism
NHS Band 7, 37.5 hours per week
We are looking to recruit to the BNSSG Keyworker Team, who provide support to Children and Young People (CYP) with autism or a learning disability who are at risk of admission to specialist CAMHS inpatient settings or other restrictive practices. The postholder will provide leadership, support and line management to a small team of Keyworkers and also have a small caseload of CYP and their families. Keyworkers engage with and support CYP to communicate their needs helping to ensure a personalised approach is coordinated and implemented across services. Keyworkers provide continuity to the CYP and their families/carers, help them to develop a personalised plan and be a local champion to maximise access of CYP with learning disabilities and/or Autism to the services and resources available from commissioned mainstream Mental Health providers and other Services.

Excellent communication skills are essential as the role involves close working and professional challenge with a range of stakeholders including local authorities, NHS services, private and voluntary sector providers, CYP with learning disabilities/autistic spectrum disorders/ mental health problems, their families and experts by experience. The postholder very occasionally be required to work outside of the normal office hours of 9am-5pm in order to be able to fully engage with CYP without causing disruption to their education and this may include working some evenings, weekends and bank holidays. This is a full time post, however, requests for flexible working and job sharing will be considered, with a minimum commitment of 22.5 hours per week.
An enhanced DBS and Children's Barred List check will be required prior to appointment to this role.
