Medical Advisor - Rare diseases - United Kingdom
- Client: Biotech, Rare Diseases
- Reports to: Field Manager at Amplity Health
- Territory: International Location: Home base in United Kingdom with 50-70% travel
Description:
The Medical Advisor UK will complement and deepen the organization's liaison with the medical/scientific community and will be responsible for establishing and developing relationships and leading high-level scientific engagements with External Experts and Organizations in the UK. They will lead the implementation of the global medical strategy in the UK, drive local medical planning, support field-based commercial team members with scientific expertise, lead UK medical content development and ABPI certification, and will be responsible for medical training in the UK. This role also includes leading the medical aspects of symposia and advisory boards.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Lead the adaptation of the International Medical Affairs strategy and plan into the country medical affairs plan and ensure its implementation
- Lead scientific engagement with the medical/scientific community by implementing and partnering on clinical and educational strategies, effectively supporting and complementing the Commercial field-based roles.
- Leverage scientific and clinical expertise together with an understanding of the healthcare landscape in territory to develop mutually beneficial and high impact professional relationships with key stakeholders, as the medical/scientific subject matter expert in the relevant indications and medical specialties in the UK
- Drive mutually high value interactions including identification of opportunities to involve external experts when a specific medical need is identified (e.g., publications, clinical trial participation)
- Support Commercial field-based roles to ensure appropriate identification, mapping, and planning of key stakeholders in the territory that is aligned with medical strategies.
- Lead medical content development and ABPI certification for the pharma material in the UK.
- Drive the identification and support of investigators and sites for company-sponsored clinical trials.
- Collaborate and ensure alignment with local CD/Clinical Operations/CRO colleagues to ensure flawless execution of the clinical trials at the sites in the market/country
- Inform medical strategies through robust and impactful actionable insights.
- Serve as a liaison for the submission and review of Investigator Sponsored Research proposals.
- Organize and conduct medical training for all Commercial roles in the UK as needed
- Lead all medical aspects of the client sponsored symposia and advisory boards in the UK.
- Manage administrative responsibilities (customer engagement /CRM documentation, expense reports, etc) in a timely manner.
- Promote and adhere to Ethics and Compliance Guidance and Policies as well as pertaining state and federal laws.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- MD/PharmD/PhD or equivalent (MD preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting with 3+ years in Medical Affairs with rare disease experience preferred
- Reputation as a well-respected, dynamic team player, willing to work collaboratively across the organization with excellent communication skills
- History of supporting clinical studies (interventional and/or observational)
- Ability to critically analyze research design, methods, and outcome measures
- Capable of managing shifting priorities in a rapidly changing and environment
- Demonstrated strength in strategic planning and tactical plan development and execution
- Appropriate knowledge of pharma guidelines and regulations and able to apply compliance knowledge to Medical Affairs activities, certification as ABPI signatory preferred
- Fluency in English required; native speakers preferred
Role remote & field-based; up to 60% travel required
