The Mercure Newcastle George Washington Hotel Golf & Spa is an independently owned 4-star hotel, golf and leisure complex located on the outskirts of Newcastle upon Tyne.

An opportunity has arisen for a Leisure Club Assistant in our Montana Spa and Leisure Club.

Applicants must have have excellent communication skills and be able to assist members and residents with their fitness requirements.

Your purpose will be: To be responsible for exceeding guest and member expectations on a day to day basis, whilst ensuring that the Fitness Areas and Activities are promoted and run effectively.

You will be accountable for:

  • To ensure the Swimming Pool, Poolside areas, Hot Tub, Steam Room, Sauna, Fitness areas and equipment are maintained and presented as laid out in the Operating Standards
  • To assist the Therapists in maintaining the highest standards of professionalism in all aspects of a Spa environment
  • To maintain the five star level of cleanliness required

Your key responsibilities & contribution will be:

  • Day to day running of all fitness related activities
  • Cleanliness and maintenance of all gymnasium equipment and presentation of fitness areas
  • Pool and Hot Tub testing for safety of our guests and members
  • Cleanliness of poolside area including Sauna and Steam Room
  • Deep Cleans at the start and end of each day
  • Ongoing training and self-development
  • Fitness / treatment bookings
  • Health & Safety monitored through Riskproof App
  • Complaints handling and resolution
  • Fun & Humour with guests and members
  • Provide relevant information
  • Handling telephone calls internal and external with upmost professionalism
  • Answer queries
  • Control float
  • Complete administration of the day and pool diary
  • Receipt incomeincluding reconciliation of day

What you will need to do this role:

  • Passion for customer service and providing outstanding treatments to all guests
  • Previous experience in a hotel or leisure facility
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Enthusiastic and positive personality
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Highly organised and able to work independently
  • Flexibility to work shifts and weekends

Please note that we believe in flexibility and multi skilling, and you may be asked to do different tasks from time to time to enable us to meet the needs of our guests and colleagues.
