ExpeCommunity Central Hall provides a wide range of services to benefit and support the local community including services for both children and adults, and the provision of community activity spaces and event space across two local buildings (304 Community Hall and Woodside Hall), totalling over 35,000sqft.

Main purpose

We have an exciting new job opportunity for a senior Manager who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of property management while delivering exceptional hospitality to clients. The role involves line managing, training, and developing a dynamic team of staff to provide high standard visitor experience, building and facilities management, health & safety, and all commercial operations connected with space.

One of the key goals is to maximise CCH's income through income generation.The successful candidate should be creative in their approach, seeking opportunities for the commercial exploitation of the building and identification of potential income streams which exist or could be developed.

The role is ideal for a highly organised individual with a passion for public interaction and the arts, music, and performance industry. The successful candidate will have initiative, will be a great communicator who possesses strong customer service skills and a creative approach to problem solving with the ability to work on several complex tasks simultaneously whilst remaining calm under pressure. They will also have an understanding of the challenges of operating and maintaining historic buildings, and facilities management of public spaces.

Main Duties

1. To provide motivational leadership to the Facilities, Woodside, Kitchen and Cinema Teams, to be accountable for the effective performance and contribution of all staff and volunteers in each department – including supervision, schedules and rotas, timesheets, overtime and leave management, induction and training. To lead regular Team meetings and communication on rotas, events and continuous improvement.

2. Provide the highest standards of customer care for all customers, be they internal, or external customers from initial enquiry to booking and delivery and invoicing/payments. To operate the online booking system for spaces across two buildings. To devise and operate discounts and packages as required.

3. Be responsible for various projects associated with the successful operational management including staff, security, technical equipment, cinema projection, bars, cellar and catering management.

4. To manage CCH equipment (including computers, sound systems and projection equipment is maintained, and the systems and processes are in place for checking equipment and hirer instruction)

5. To compile and maintain an equipment register (location, venue and condition) for maintenance and compliance, and ensure adequate janitorial supplies for both venues.

6. Keep all venue areas clean and tidy and to observe all Health & Safety requirements with particular reference to maintenance and repair of equipment, risk assessments, hygiene, cleanliness and fire safety ensuring due diligence is demonstrated at all times. To work with Public Entertainment Licencing and other licencing/environmental health agencies and requirements.

7. Ensure all mandatory tests and inspections are carried out in a timely fashion maintaining all appropriate statutory records of the two buildings relating to the safe operations of the premises.

8. To raise income by proactively developing a full range of commercial activities that can be accommodated and are appropriate for the venues, and accommodated within existing and internal space requirements and customers.

9. To be CCH Health & Safety Officer, ensuring activities comply with CCH and H&S policies, and requirements around licensing and public entertainment regulations. To liaise with Head of service around the larger programmed maintenance and repairs for 304 Maryhill Road (and also with Glasgow Life for Woodside Halls).

10. As CCH Fire Officer, to manage and update CCH Fire Protection policy and procedures including attending fire alarm call outs, out of operational hours as required.

11. To contribute to the development of the Community Development Trust by participating and supporting other members of the management team, and Executive Team, including management meetings and the annual budget process, and other departmental representation as relevant.

12. The role will require manager to work shifts and weekends depending on the type of event taking place, being the on-site manager at significant events (in discussion and agreement with Executive Team). Be a keyholder with responsibility for the start and end of day procedures, co-ordinating the opening and locking of the building, in any absence of a duty/rota caretaker.
