Who we are
Redwood Park is a nurturing specialist school in Milton Keynes, created in response to the growing local need for high-quality SEND and SEMH provision for children and young people aged 7–19. Our school has been carefully designed to provide a calm, welcoming, and highly individualised environment where every learner can rediscover their confidence, curiosity, and love of learning.
Many of our students have experienced disruption or disengagement in their previous educational journeys. At Redwood Park, we believe that before academic progress can flourish, a young person's sense of safety, trust, and belonging must first be restored. That's why our curriculum is holistic, blending academic rigour with therapeutic approaches, practical learning, and rich experiences both within and beyond the classroom.
Our state-of-the-art site includes purpose-built classrooms, dedicated Thrive spaces, and flexible outdoor learning areas, supporting a wide range of sensory, social, and emotional needs. Students benefit from activities such as forest school, equine and animal-assisted learning, creative arts, and community engagement, all of which are underpinned by trauma-informed and attachment-aware practice.
Learners at Redwood Park present with a broad spectrum of needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism, ADHD, and communication and interaction difficulties. Every aspect of our provision—educational, therapeutic, and pastoral is designed to ensure that each young person is truly understood, supported, and inspired to achieve their personal best.
Our triangulated approach places the child at the heart of everything we do. We work in close partnership with families, local authorities, therapists, and external agencies to co-produce bespoke pathways that lead to exceptional outcomes in wellbeing, independence, and lifelong learning.
The Role
We are all primarily teachers of children before teachers of subjects. Central to this role is knowing the child, building professional, nurturing and positive relationships and motivating students.
Compass Community School teachers inspire children, creating a sense of awe and wonder and making subjects and lessons real and relevant to them. They plan exciting and engaging learning opportunities which challenge and push students, whether they are working on the very basics or they have a special talent or passion for the subject. With that in mind, we are looking for the perfect teacher, rather than being specific about experience in teaching a certain subject – we will incorporate your interests, experience and passion for teaching into our school.
Our children require very special teachers who are able to manage some complex and challenging behaviours. They will know that our children require lots of attention, the right sort of communication, consistency and flexibility in equal measure, and a non-judgemental approach.
