About the role
The Finance team plays a pivotal role in guiding the company's growth trajectory, through meticulous financial analysis and foresight. We provide insightful recommendations to senior leadership, leveraging data-driven insights to optimize resource allocation and mitigate risks. With a focus on driving efficiency and maximizing shareholder value, the Finance function at DS Smith fosters a culture of accountability and transparency, underpinning the company's long-term financial sustainability and success.
We have a fabulous opportunity for a Senior Internal Auditor to join our small and friendly Internal Audit team at DS Smith. This is fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to be part of shaping the role and how the team interact with the wider business.
We are recruiting for 2 x Senior Internal Auditor positions – one would be supporting on SOX audit compliance and the other role would focus on our other assurance services.
The Senior Auditor will work in a team environment providing detailed reviews of control environments, with a particular focus on financial controls and US Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance. You will be responsible for planning, conducting, and documenting the more complex audit assignments.
Confident in nature, the successful candidate will communicate effectively with staff at all levels to understand business processes, identify potential risk areas, and help devise practical solutions. You will also mentor less experienced auditors and assist in running major audits (teams of 2-4).
This role involves travel to sites across the Company, where you will be executing and reviewing SOX testing, presenting findings, and drafting timely, well-written reports that recommend practical and value-added solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to build relationships and identify profit improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
The team are always looking to improve our ways of working, streamlining the current processes and improving efficiencies. So having a curious mindset, being able to challenge our current ways of working and having the confidence to back your ideas is actively encouraged here.
So, whether you are currently working as an experienced Auditor looking for a step up or an existing Senior Auditor looking for a new challenge – then we might be looking for you
About you
- Demonstrable experience in a governance role, such as internal audit or group governance function
- Strong auditing skills, with practical knowledge of financial control frameworks.
- Experience with US Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and financial controls testing (highly desirable)
- An interest in travel and interacting with various levels of management.
