Techoraco, a long-standing and trusted provider of large-scale, international networking events, memberships and news, that cover the complete digital infrastructure ecosystem from fibre, data centres, wireless access, subsea and satellite. For over two decades, our events have connected the leaders from more than 150 countries at our series of powerhouse events including: ITW, Metro Connect USA, Capacity Middle East, Datacloud Global Congress and Capacity Europe.

The techoraco operations team is responsible for the operational delivery of over 15 annual telecoms and technology events and exhibitions, across North America, South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Our events range from intimate leadership gatherings of 300 attendees to our flagship events of 5000+ attendees.

Job Purpose
The Event Operations & Awards Manager will be an experienced professional responsible for the full end-to-end delivery of two awards ceremonies hosting over 400 attendees, as well as conferences and exhibitions within the event schedule. This role includes overseeing the launch of the awards campaign via a dedicated portal, managing the judging process in compliance with Delinian Awards policies, and operational management of all event aspects. The successful candidate will also maintain full budgetary control, whilst ensure the achievement of target profit margins while consistently delivering high levels of customer satisfaction.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Demonstrate a high level of customer satisfaction from attention to customer needs and a high level of responsiveness.
  • Managing end-to-end delivery of allocated events and awards ceremonies of varying size, format, and complexity across a range of geographies
  • Working with sales team to create packages that are innovative and profitable, identifying fixed vs variable costs and securing appropriate margins and delivery on ROI.
  • Working with the procured suppliers to significantly improve the experience for our commercial clients and attendees at the events.
  • Compile relevant information for clients to include, but not limited to, clear instructions on submitting required materials to us, access times on the day of the event, venue information.
  • Sponsor fulfilment for awards and events
  • Creation and implementation of event signage and other collateral and materials
  • Organise staffing plans and requirements for each event to include task allocation, travel and accommodation booking.
  • Ensuring that all health and safety procedures for our events are in line with current legislation.
  • Designing and managing floor plans and space requirements for each event
  • Executing awards event delivery - with end-to-end accountability foroperational management of all events including customer journeys and onsite experience.
  • Responsible for risk and compliance at events - ensure security plans are adhered to and that each event has a full risk assessment.
  • Manage events onsite including running briefings and management of onsite staff and vendors.
  • Arrange trophy ordering, rehearsals and table plans for awards dinners.

Essential
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Extensive experience managing awards and a wide range of stakeholders, from judges to creation of submission portal, engaging hosts and writing scripts.
  • Proven track record in the successful strategic, operational, and financial planning and delivery of awards and conferences and exhibitions
  • Strong negotiation and contracting skills with venues and suppliers.
  • White glove experience for clients and customers implementation
  • Proactive and takes initiative by being able to identify problems, research and evaluate options creatively and innovatively.
  • Led and implemented ESG and I&D initiatives for events and awards.
  • Proven experience in managing compliance and roll out risk policies and documentation affecting international events and awards.
  • Self-motivator and motivating the team to achieve deadlines for all aspects of awards and events.
  • Confident decision-making thought leadership and a focus on finding solutions and achieving results by taking accountability and ownership of decisions made.
  • Able to demonstrate that you have worked with research/editorial teams/event teams to develop effective processes.
  • Experience of using table planning/ floor planning software

DESIRABLE

  • Foreign language
  • Project managing events/projects and teams in other departments.
  • Curious with an active interest in monitoring industry trends and other events to inspire new ways to improve our event delivery.
  • Experience using Cvent, Salesforce and NetSuite are desirable but not essential.
  • First Aid qualified/IOSH Managing Safety Certificate
