Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Coordinator to join our team in providing enriching experiences for residents in our nursing home facilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in care, particularly in dementia and Alzheimer's care, and possess excellent communication skills to engage with residents effectively. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for our residents through meaningful activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being.

Duties

  • Plan, organise, and implement a variety of engaging activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
  • Facilitate group activities such as arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and exercise classes.
  • Conduct individual assessments to understand the preferences and needs of each resident.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure activities are safe and appropriate for residents with varying levels of mobility and cognitive function.
  • Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback on activities.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding upcoming events and resident involvement.
  • Foster a warm and welcoming environment that encourages resident participation in all activities.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in nursing homes is essential.
  • Knowledge of dementia care practices is highly desirable; experience in Alzheimer's care is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with seniors and their families.
  • A compassionate approach to caregiving, demonstrating patience and understanding towards residents' needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated to initiate activities independently.
