Olton Alexander is a forward-thinking organisation committed to operational excellence and data-driven decision making. We pride ourselves on transforming raw information into meaningful insights that drive performance, efficiency, and strategic growth. We are now seeking a talented Data Analyst to join our team and play a key role in shaping how we analyse, visualise, and interpret data across the business.
Role Overview
The Data Analyst will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering high-quality operational and performance reports. You will provide enhanced analytical insights to support business decisions, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement across departments. The successful candidate will be skilled in Power BI, DAX coding, and the wider Microsoft data stack, with a strong ability to turn complex data into actionable intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain operational and management reports to support daily, weekly, and monthly business performance tracking.
- Use Power BI, DAX, and related tools to design interactive dashboards and visualisations that provide clear, actionable insights.
- Extract, transform, and analyse large datasets from multiple sources to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Deliver enhanced data analysis, identifying trends, anomalies, and opportunities for efficiency improvements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define reporting requirements and ensure outputs meet business needs.
- Support the automation of recurring reports and manual processes to improve data accessibility and timeliness.
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis and produce data-driven insights for senior management and project teams.
- Assist with data governance and quality assurance activities to maintain high data integrity standards.
- Provide training and documentation for internal users on Power BI dashboards and data interpretation.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement of the company's data reporting framework, methodologies, and data models.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
- Proven experience in a Data Analyst or similar analytical/reporting role.
- Strong proficiency with Power BI – including report creation, DAX measures, and data modelling.
- Skilled in DAX coding and M Query (Power Query Editor).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to manipulate and interpret data from multiple sources (e.g., SQL databases, Excel, APIs).
- Solid experience in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas and pivot tables.
- Excellent communication skills — able to translate data insights into business language.
- Experience producing operational reports and dashboards for senior stakeholders.
Desirable:
- Experience with SQL Server, Python, or R for deeper analytical modelling.
- Knowledge of ETL processes and data warehousing principles.
- Understanding of KPI frameworks, operational metrics, and business performance indicators.
- Exposure to CRM or ERP data
- Background in business operations, finance, or performance improvement environments.
Personal Attributes
- Highly analytical with a proactive, curious mindset.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to challenge and influence stakeholders.
- Self-starter who takes ownership of tasks and delivers high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines.
