What if you could shape a career as unique as you?
At WSP, you can always find opportunities to grow and do what matters to you. Make the most of our global reach to discover new challenges and chances to work with diverse, talented individuals who will help you expand your horizons.
Your new role, what's involved?
- As an Assistant Land Consultant based in our London Chancery Lane or Guildford office, you will be supervising small land referencing teams in the identification of landowners, occupiers and other parties that hold a legal interest in land, through research and interpretation of HMLR titles and registers.
- You must be prepared to work out on site going door to door and supervising your team as you fill in the missing pieces of information to complete the land ownership database.
- Your work will also support our teams in the delivery of land access, landowner engagement, stakeholder engagement, and supporting projects through to the consenting stages.
- You will undertake desktop research, site visits and interpretation of title information along with managing information through databases and GIS.
- You will assist in the preparation of statutory documentation and support multi-disciplinary teams in managing land & stakeholder risk for infrastructure projects.
Your Land Team
- The opportunity sits within our Land team in London and Guildford.
- We work closely with our 250 Land colleagues across the UK and Ireland delivering land services on a variety of projects across the energy, water, road, rail and active-travel sectors.
- We are the largest Land Referencing business in the UK, having delivered high profile projects such as the A9 Dualling, Heathrow and HS2.
- We actively support people in achieving professional accreditations and have Chartered Geographers (CGeog), Chartered Town Planners (RTPI) and Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) who can support your career progression.
- We have multiple clients in the Transport, Energy, Rail and Local Authority Sectors. Specifically, you will be supporting infrastructure projects that are critical for the deployment of renewable energy, to help the UK and Ireland economies to achieve net zero carbon emissions.
- This role will report to a Consultant within the Land Team for WSP in Birmingham.
- Full training will be provided combined with learning on-the-job as part of our projects.
- We are flexible with the role location and can combine this with home working in a hybrid role.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- A degree in geography or another relevant discipline.
- Experience of landowner engagement or working with members of the public.
- Familiarity of Land Referencing and/or the land acquisition process, including researching and identifying landowners/occupiers, land interests and rights in land to keep stakeholders informed of project development (desirable).
- Provide evidence of working under tight timeframes as part of a busy professional working environment.
- Be an active and collaborative team member, working closely with colleagues and fit seamlessly into a delivery team.
- To provide support to projects by undertaking technical elements of projects on time, within budget and to the agreed standards.
- The role will require visits to sites as part of a team, to engage with landowners and stakeholders. This will involve temporary periods staying away from home (accommodation and expenses are provided).
- Strong verbal and written communication and organisational skills, with demonstrable experience in managing and checking data carefully.
- Experience using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
- Ability to travel to site and /or client offices/remote locations
