About The Role:

As a Junior Transport Planning Technician, you'll play a key role in supporting the Transport Planning team on a daily basis. You'll learn how to prepare technical drawings, modelling, and provide information that will help bring development projects to life. You'll have the opportunity to be involved in a numerous projects including Residential and Mixed Use Developments, Commercial Development, Urban Regeneration and Highway Improvements.

This is a hands-on, practical role with plenty of variety. You'll be supported by experienced Transport Planners and engineers and technicians, gaining training and exposure to:

  • Contributing to technical reports
  • Analysing the operation of highway junctions
  • Highway design support
  • Spreadsheet development
  • Use of CAD
  • Land development and infrastructure planning

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Producing and updating technical drawings, plans, and modelling using industry standard software (full training provided).
  • Assisting the Transport Planning team with the preparation of technical documents and calculations.
  • Supporting the development of designs for highway access and highway improvements as well as supporting the development of strategies for sustainable transport.
  • Helping with the coordination of Transport Planning information between engineering, environmental, and design teams.
  • Ensuring work is completed accurately, on time, and meets project and quality standards.
  • Learning how to engage with clients, local authorities, and internal project teams as your experience grows.

About You:

  • No industry experience is required we're looking for someone with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a desire to learn.
  • You must be currently located in Ashford.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • A keen interest in Transport Planning, infrastructure, design, or the built environment.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • A willingness to learn technical software such as Junctions11 and AutoCAD, plus other tools.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, collaborative attitude.
  • GCSEs, A-levels, BTEC, or equivalent but we welcome a variety of educational backgrounds.
  • A proactive approach and a desire to grow your career within a supportive team.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work on own initiative
  • Confident to liaise with all levels of management both internally and externally
  • Work well within a team
