Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager, to support HVDC Service UK/IE to look after the warranty portfolio across Ireland and the UK working in liaison with relevant site-specific project managers and wider colleagues in different departments across the world with the aim of providing timely closure of warranty specific issues as they arise along with forcing a wholesale reduction in claim numbers.
In this customer facing role you will need to be able to use technical knowledge and skills to assess the priority of faults / claims and help come up with cost effective and timely solutions to ensure continued operational availability at all our sites. You will be a team player with a willingness to learn the industry specifics to enable successful implementation of this role. You will have to work closely with other technical departments to come up with solutions when the local team need assistance.
Location, Birmingham UK (Remote) or Dublin (Remote), with travel to other sites

How you'll make an impact:
- Project leadership, Leads the project team allocated to the project, defining main guidelines, allocating project tasks, and motivating and monitoring internal and external resources to accomplish all tasks and milestones. Provides performance feedback regarding allocated resources working on projects.
- Planning and scheduling, Defines, jointly with the Project Controls department, all project plan documents, including scope and financial plans, schedule and risk management plans.
- Project execution and control, ensures that the project follows execution best practices and Hitachi's policies. Effectively monitors and controls project progress and efficient resource utilization. Monitors and controls project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses and cash flow. Identifies, qualifies, quantifies and manages project risks, and ensures that all opportunities are identified and pursued. Captures, analyses and shares lessons learned throughout the project. Ensures that the project is formally closed out, as contractually agreed. Drives the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the customer.
- Contract claims and procurement management, ensures that the project consistently applies contract and claims management, in accordance with Hitachis policies and contractual agreements. Coordinates with Supply Chain Management, and successfully procures required services, materials and equipment for the project from external and internal suppliers. Support Supply Chain Management in supplier negotiations, claims and project changes.
- Stakeholder relations, acts as key contact for the customer and an escalation point for project issues. Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicates with all stakeholders.
- Health, safety and environment (HSE), Ensures the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
Your Background:
- 2+ years of relevant PM or Electrical contracting experience.
- Excellent organisational and co-ordination skills with the ability to prioritise and manage peaks in workload.
- Experience managing faults / warranty claims on an industrial facility.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with employees and customers in a professional manner, both in person and via telephone, and a strong focus on managing customer relationships.
- Good knowledge of Project scheduling, planning, estimation, procurement & cost control.
- Experience in delivering client-focused solutions based on customer needs.
- Natural relationship builder with integrity, reliability and maturity
- Keen attention to detail and adherence to deadlines
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and SAP
- Ability to delegate to as well as motivate a team, in executing tasks to deadline.
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of control & protection systems.
- An ability to self-motivate, work under pressure and on your own initiative and as part of a team.
- Fluent in written & spoken English.
- full driving licence.
Desirable
- Knowledge of High Voltage AC and DC Transmission systems and the key components used within these systems.
- Knowledge of auxiliary systems such as LVAC, Pumps, UPS, HVAC, Control and Protection, SCADA, PLCs
- Technical qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Previous experience in critical infrastructure is also a major plus.
