Hours: Full time – Combination of both early and late shifts (flexibility required)

Reporting to: Terminal Manager

About the role:

This is an operational role, based at our Marine Fuels Terminal in Blyth, Northumberland

Working as part of the team operating the terminal to ensure safe receipt, storage and redelivery of Marine Gas Oil to inland and marine customers.

Due to the nature of shipping, we are looking for someone with a flexible attitude to changing working hours, which may include, but not exclusively, early starts, late finishes, weekend and night work to ensure that customers are supplied.

No prior knowledge of the activities is assumed, therefore training and development will be provided from the outset, with expanding responsibilities in line with experience, training and confidence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out administration duties to comply with terminal operating procedures
  • Control the receipt of fuel from marine tankers into storage tanks
  • Control the storage and redelivery of marine fuel to marine and inland customers
  • Dipping of tanks, completion of documentation required weekly, month and year end
  • Assist road delivery drivers to load fuel in line with operation procedures
  • Connect and disconnect hoses, bunker trollies and equipment associated with bunkering vessels at in a safe and controlled manner
  • Monitoring of ship to shore interface during, but not limited to discharging, loading, bunkering and additional marine operations at jetty
  • Maintenance of on-site equipment as defined by written scheme
  • Complete required ship to shore safety checks lists and those required for ISGOTT regulations
  • Ongoing vessel monitoring during discharge or bunkering operations. To communicate with vessel and terminal as required to ensure safety of vessel and operation if not compromised at any time
  • The completion of jetty/vessel documentation and logs to support a managed jetty hand-over and undertaken when required
  • Complete pre-post vessel checks, and document as required
  • In the event of spills or incidents to be able to implement emergency procedures
  • Maintain good housekeeping at both terminal and jetty
  • Identify and report and defects/near misses to management
  • Ensure that all operations equipment is in good condition
  • Manage consumables to ensure that there is an adequate supply
  • Assist with training of terminal instructions and operation procedures for any new starters or 3rd party operation partners
  • Undertake any customer or supplier or internal audits when necessary
  • Input to safety management and meetings as required
  • Ensure implementation of procedures and processes in line with the implementation of the quality management system
  • Promote process safety culture at all times
  • Comply with all written procedure and work instruction reviews with management
  • Comply with the Port ISPS Code ad Jetty interface
  • Assist with planned and scheduled maintenance
  • Any further work requested by management

Acting as a team member at all times, supporting all areas of the sea bunkering business. All members of staff are expected to operate in line with Employee Handbook and policies contained and all of our established policies.
