Roles & Responsibilities
As an Occupational Health Advisor, you will play a key role in the delivery of high-quality occupational health services. Responsibilities will include:
- Conducting a range of occupational health assessments including safety-critical medicals, health surveillance, and management referrals.
- Completing and signing off reports to a high clinical standard within agreed timeframes.
- Providing professional advice and guidance to managers, HR teams, and employees on work-related health issues.
- Delivering services such as audiometry, spirometry, HAVS Tier 1 & 2 assessments, vision screening, skin assessments, and general health screening.
- Reviewing and triaging management referrals and escalating cases to an Occupational Health Physician (OHP) when clinically appropriate.
- Maintaining accurate, secure, and compliant clinical records in accordance with GDPR and best practice.
- Supporting the clinical team in the development of policies, procedures, and SEQOHS-aligned processes.
- Participating in case discussions, clinical reviews, and continuous professional development.
- Liaising with clients to ensure exceptional service delivery and helping to build long-term, positive working relationships.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
Applicants must hold the following:
- Registered Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration.
- Formal Occupational Health qualification (e.g., Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health or SCPHN – OH).
- Previous experience working as an Occupational Health Advisor.
- Strong clinical decision-making and report-writing skills.
- Experience conducting health surveillance including audiometry and spirometry.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage a varied clinical workload.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Experience working with occupational health software systems.
- Knowledge of SEQOHS standards and requirements.
- Previous experience providing case management.
- Experience in ergonomic assessments or DSE assessments.
