What You'll Do

As a Safety Apprentice, you'll gain first-hand experience identifying risks, improving processes, and supporting a culture of safety - all while working alongside experienced safety professionals.

You'll be based on-site within our operations, seeing how people and equipment interact and spotting potential hazards before they occur. You'll build a deep understanding of how every process, task, and machine works and think creatively about how to make operations safer.

During your apprenticeship, you'll learn how to:
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and safety audits
- Analyse safety data and report on key metrics
- Understand health, safety, and compliance regulations in a fast-moving operational environment
- Design and implement proactive safety improvements
- Develop communication skills to advise colleagues and guide safe working practices
- Respond quickly and effectively to emerging safety challenges

Key job responsibilities
Technology & Innovation
- Collaborating with robotics teams to ensure safe human–machine interaction
- Developing innovative solutions for material-handling safety
- Using the latest safety technology and monitoring systems

Data & Continuous Improvement
- Using data analytics to identify trends and prevent incidents
- Measuring key safety metrics and driving data-led decisions

People & Culture
- Leading safety campaigns that reach thousands of employees
- Engaging with leadership teams to drive safety culture
- Supporting sustainable workplace practices

Operations & Response
- Working with engineering teams on facility design improvements
- Participating in emergency response planning and crisis management
- Contributing to global safety initiatives that shape Amazon's future

A day in the life
- Carrying out daily safety inspections and supporting risk assessments across operational areas
- Observing workplace activities to identify potential hazards or unsafe practices
- Collecting, analysing, and reporting safety data to help identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Supporting incident investigations and contributing to corrective or preventive action plans
- Assisting with safety briefings, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns to promote safe working practices
- Collaborating with operations teams to ensure safety procedures are followed and understood
- Helping to review and maintain compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Monitoring the implementation of safety improvements and recording progress in documentation or tracking systems
- Using digital tools and software to manage safety audits, reports, and training records
- Participating in projects aimed at enhancing safety culture, sustainability, and wellbeing on site
- Continuously learning from mentors and applying new knowledge to keep people safe every day

Basic Qualifications:
- To qualify for this programme, you must:
- You are a UK national, or a non UK national with the right to work in the UK, or an EU national and have settled status in the UK, and have lived in the UK or an EEA, or British overseas territory for 3 years or more prior to commencing the apprenticeship (September 2026)
- You will be resident of the UK for the entire duration of the program
- You are not registered to study on a UK government funded course ending August 2026 or later
- You will be 18 years old or older before entering an Amazon building (September 2026)
- Have the right to live and work in England (if you are on a visa, this needs to enable you to legally work and reside in England for the entire duration of the programme until May 2028)
- You have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent): Including Maths and English
- If your qualifications were gained outside of the UK you must provide a Statement of Comparability from UK ENIC to confirm eligibility.
- Previous Qualifications: Candidates must not be on another Department for Education funded training program, including another apprenticeship. Candidates cannot hold a qualification at the same or higher level which is in a similar subject area to the apprenticeship. The apprenticeship must be in a completely different subject area or offer clear career progression. Previous qualifications will be reviewed for funding eligibility.
- PLEASE NOTE: This position is an 20-month fixed-term contract.
- This Apprenticeship assumes the candidate has little or no knowledge/experience of the occupation
