Metrolink Project Engineer
Are you a Civils or Track Project Engineer seeking an opportunity to make a real difference on the UK's largest light rail network?
Would you relish the chance to contribute across all aspects of your discipline from design development of major multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects and renewals, to providing strategic technical input to the development of design for new tram stops and line extension schemes?
Would you like to be at the forefront of the continued development of the Bee Network in Greater Manchester, and support shaping it's Metrolink development, enhancements and resilience for the local community?
Your Role
We have an exciting opportunity for both a Civils or Track Project Engineer to join the Metrolink Engineering Team. We have a range of engineering projects over the coming few years that need a dedicated project engineer to support the Bury Interchange Upgrade, Tram-Train Business Case Development and various other track & civils renewals to name a few. The role will also have ad-hoc involvement in other new proposed schemes to expand and enhance the Metrolink network.
You will be involved in early-stage project development - scoping technical specifications, reviewing tenders of potential suppliers. You will oversee designs of civils and track, leading the engineering assurance for progressing design from conception to delivery of a project. You will also support and lead the management of technical interfaces, particularly with our Metrolink discipline engineers, tram operators and contractors.
Who are we?
Engineering is at the heart of Metrolink's plans. At Transport for Greater Manchester, you will have the opportunity to work in a complex and challenging environment where you will grow and build upon your existing knowledge and experience to really make a difference to the travelling public using the Metrolink system across the city.
Metrolink Engineering provides oversight of all engineering projects for the continue development of the light-rail system infrastructure and rolling stock in Greater Manchester in conjunction with working with our tram operator and maintainer and overseeing their committed obligations to run and maintain the light-rail network.
What you'll bring
You will have an engineering degree or equivalent with civil/track engineering project experience within a rail and/or light-rail environment. You will have attention to detail to oversee design assurance activities throughout the entire project lifecycle and have strong written and verbal communication skills to manage project stakeholders and review outputs. You will have a proactive approach to thinking outside the box to solve design and stakeholder issues and oversee internal TfGM/Metrolink engineering assurance adherence within your projects.
What we can offer you
A permanent role with a salary of £47,539 - £52,866 per annum depending on skills and experience.
