In this role you will also have the opportunity to work across our Newport based settings for an extremely exciting role as part of our Management Team

We are currently looking for a warm and friendly Deputy Manager to join The Learning Tree Team in creating a nurturing and adventurous environment for children :) Our Explorers provision is expanding and we want talented leaders to join our team

The ideal candidate will be able to lead staff within the setting, work well in a team, and possess a willingness to develop their skills and knowledge.

Responsibilities include:

• Assisting with the management of the out-of-school care program.
• Running holiday club programs during school holidays and ensuring holiday clubs run at full capacity. You would be required to work shifts between the hours of 7.30am and 6pm, which will likely be in excess of the term time hours of the role.
• Providing a safe and stimulating environment to promote learning.
• Updating parents and carers on children's progress.
• Lead and manage staff, providing guidance and support to promote effective teamwork.
• Keeping accurate records.
• Ensuring compliance with safety and child protection regulations.
• Supervising staff and handling administrative tasks.
• Maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.
• Developing and maintaining relationships with parents and carers - good communication is key
• Ensuring health and safety measures are constantly maintained by completing risk assessments, reporting risks, and recording accidents and incidents.
• Growing the client base, maximising occupancy numbers and growing a waiting list.

Must have:

• Part-time availability: able to work 10 hours per week between 7:30 am – 9.30am, 5 days per week, Monday - Friday.
• Playwork Level 3.
• Full clean driver's licence and reliable transportation.
• Confidence in driving our nursery vehicles (small mini vans) is compulsory.
• At least 2 years experience working with children.
• Leadership skills.
• Superb communication skills.
• Be able to relate and engage with children aged between years
• Knowledge of safeguarding.
• Understanding of the importance of following and abiding by policies and procedures.
• Confidence to work as the Person In Charge for the setting.
• Understanding the importance of confidentiality.
• Childcare Level 3.
• Paediatric First Aid.

Preferred:

• Previous leadership experience.
• Child protection.
• Food hygiene.
• Experience participating in a CIW inspection with high level results.

Desirable:

• DBS on the update service (one can be obtained via the nursery if you do not have one).
