CMC Markets is seeking an experienced and proactive Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Manager to establish and lead a new SRE function within the IT Production department. This is a key leadership role responsible for defining the SRE strategy, implementing best practices, and driving operational excellence across CMC's hybrid technology environment.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the culture, processes, and tooling that underpin the reliability, scalability, and performance of CMC's global online trading platforms. This role offers significant opportunity to influence the evolution of service reliability across the organisation.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define an approach to site reliability for CMC, including framework, standards and metrics
  • Lead the implementation and embedding of new approach across CMC's technology teams
  • Establish best practices and ensure an ongoing focus on reliability, scalability and operational excellence
  • Influence incident and problem management process, driving improvements to key platform metrics
  • Contribute to Post Incident Reviews, root cause analysis, lessons learnt and post actions
  • Champion stability and resilience across the trading platforms
  • Ensure new systems are aligned with best practices
  • Drive improvements and alignment in observability and monitoring tools, improving MTTD and MTTR
  • Produce analysis on SRE function performance
  • Provide guidance, recommendations and hands-on support to teams, promoting SRE best practices
  • Develop and maintain a roadmap for continuous improvement of support and observability
  • Maintain personal/professional development to meet the changing demands of the role, including all relevant regulatory and legislative training
  • When dealing with all customers, clients, or colleagues, ensure that we provide a clear, fair and consistent high-quality service that presents a professional and positive image of CMC Markets
  • Take all reasonable steps to ensure appropriate confidentiality
  • Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role
  • Read and comply with CMC policies and procedures as they relate to your employment
  • Complete all mandatory compliance training

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 2 years experience in a SRE function or similar in hybrid cloud/on prem environment
  • 7 years experience in IT operational roles working with highly reliable systems
  • Experience in modern development methodologies and languages
  • Proficiency in implementing and managing observability tools
  • Knowledge of automation tools and methodologies
  • Strong understanding and application of ITIL processes
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Proactive attitude towards learning and adapting to new technologies and industry best practices
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team setting
  • Proficiency in Java, .NET and JavaScript
  • Experience working with AWS and Infrastructure as Code
  • Experience in supporting a trading or investment platform  
  • Information Technology degree or equivalent experience
