We are looking for a skilled and motivated Project Engineer (Drivetrain) to join our team in Blyth. This role is key to coordinating and supporting technical and commercial projects across our engineering functions, ensuring safe, timely, and high- are quality delivery. You will contribute directly to the operation of world-leading drivetrain test facilities and help advance technology readiness for offshore renewable energy.

Position:

As a Project Engineer, you will bridge technical delivery and project coordination, working across disciplines to plan, resource, and deliver projects effectively. You will manage risk, support procurement, and supervise junior engineers during test campaigns, while maintaining strong communication with clients and stakeholders. This is a varied role requiring strong organisational skills, technical understanding, and a proactive mindset to solve challenges and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day technical activities and assist with project planning and scheduling.
  • Manage project risk through FMEA workshops, risk registers, and RAMS development.
  • Track project progress, identify issues, and support resolution with technical leads.
  • Support procurement and logistics to ensure timely availability of materials and equipment.
  • Supervise junior engineers and technicians during test campaigns.
  • Prepare technical updates and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
  • Promote safe working practices and environmental awareness.
  • Capture lessons learned and contribute to process improvements.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree in engineering or scientific discipline (or HND with relevant experience).
  • 4+ years' experience in engineering or technical project delivery.
  • Experience managing project sub-tasks or small projects to time, cost, and quality.
  • Understanding of project management principles, risk management, and planning.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Broad engineering knowledge, including testing, design, and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with drivetrain, electrical, or mechanical systems in renewable energy.
  • Awareness of risk management tools and safety documentation (RAMS, FMEA).

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience in business development and technical bids.
  • Risk management training (FMEA, HAZOP).
  • Experience in ISO 17025 or ISO 9001 environments.
  • Competence in project planning tools (MS Project, Primavera P6).
  • Chartered Engineer status.

Other information:

This role is based at our Blyth facilities. Occasional travel and flexibility may be required to support project delivery.
