Job Purpose

• This job focuses on supporting innovation project managers on all aspects of large, high/medium risk projects.
• Lead and coordinate formulation work, implementing formulation changes on a large project or across a brand portfolio of projects.
• Coordination of claims and supporting technical documentation. Cross-functional collaboration with the Claims & Activation Work Stream Leader to deliver project claims and support.

• Creatively resolving formulation issues in collaboration with format and fragrance teams to deliver safe and stable innovation products to market.

Responsibilities

• Support and assist the Manager / Technical Project Leader on all aspects of project management working across multiple projects. Will deputise for the Manager / Technical Project Leader when required. Ensure regions / countries receive good levels of project support and communication.
• Manage innovation projects, with support, as global / regional TPL on small / low risk project(s).
• Contribute to the completion of project management technical documentation, including toolboxes (TTDs/PETs), by gathering cross-functional and regional / country input. Ensure all project risks are clearly identified and highlighted within the project team and update stakeholders when required. Input formulation information to decision gate documents.
• Lead a formulation work-stream within a medium / large project (or multiple streams in smaller projects) to deliver formulation changes which need to be safe, compatible with packaging and supply chain, and meet consumer and brand requirements. Ensure the products/formulations undergoes relevant technical testing, interpreting results as required. Communicate updates to the project team and to the formulation community, making recommendations.
• To prepare relevant documentation for laboratory technicians such as batch sheets, gassing sheets, results templates for capturing data in relevant Unilever software. Where trained, checking and signing off gas sheets. May also co-ordinate through others where appropriate.
• Coordinate product claims generation and support with the Claims & Activation Work Stream Leader , ensuring input from regional teams is sought and that regulatory and legal requirements are met. Ensure all project claims have been substantiated with relevant supporting documentation captured in the appropriate way.
• Formulation contact for one or more projects, providing information to other functions / regions / countries when project specific questions / issues arise. Uses creative problem solving for both formulation issues and project issues overcoming both major and minor barriers.
• Support the everyday work plan for Temps / Students / New starters within the team, including training and coaching.
• Actively participate in departmental initiatives, processes and maintain high standards of laboratory housekeeping and safety. Supports training and provides technical support for colleagues
• Actively engage with other teams in the department to understand the formulation and packaging strategy to effectively implement into project scope.
• The awareness of and some input to providing technical documentation to support applications for relevant endorsements, e.g. PETA / Vegan, Cruelty Free, British Skin Foundation

Key Requirements

• Education: Bachelors degree (preferably degree-level in sciences / engineering).

Experience In Some Or All The Following

• Formulation chemistry – understanding of ingredients, ability to modify and manipulate formulations.
• Claims generation, definition and substantiation.
• Technical knowledge of Packaging, CTI and processing processes.
• Technical knowledge of supply chain, analytical and fragrance development processes.
• Analytical ability – analyse and interpret information.
• Understanding of Unilever and key competitor's global portfolio on specific applicators / brands.
• Intellectual property understanding.
• Physical stability assessment capability.
• Understanding consumer insights and needs.
• Information Management - knowledge capture, reporting etc.
• Stakeholder management -working with internal and & external partners
• Project Management.
• Strategic Implementation - working on strategic activities.
• Health and Safety.
• Effective communication.
• Digital skills (eg PLM, LIMS, ELN).

Recruitment Fraud
Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money. In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs.  These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate.

How is Unilever tackling this?
Many of Unilever's recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
