Job Role: Decorator – Kitchens & Bathrooms (Planned Works)

Location: South Kesteven District – Grantham and surrounding areas

Salary: £30,000 – £36,000 p.a. (depending on experience)

Company Overview

We are a reputable main contractor specialising in the social housing sector across the East Midlands. Committed to improving the quality of homes for residents, we are seeking an experienced Decorator to join our team as part of our planned kitchen and bathroom installation programme.

This role focuses on delivering high-quality decorating and finishing works in occupied properties, ensuring a professional finish to kitchens and bathrooms following completion of installation works.

Role Responsibilities

• Prepare and decorate kitchen and bathroom areas following completion of installation works.
• Carry out all aspects of decorating, including wall preparation, filling, sanding, painting, and minor plaster patch repairs.
• Apply a range of finishes including emulsion, gloss, and satin on walls, ceilings, woodwork, and other surfaces.
• Undertake basic multi-trade tasks as required (e.g. minor tiling, sealant application, or mastic work).
• Ensure all works are completed to a high standard, achieving excellent customer satisfaction.
• Work effectively with other trades to ensure smooth handovers and minimal disruption to residents.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all health and safety policies and procedures.
• Complete daily work records and communicate progress updates to the project team.
• Represent the company professionally at all times, providing courteous communication with tenants.

Additional Workstream – Empty Homes Programme

In addition to planned kitchen and bathroom works, you will occasionally support our Empty Homes Programme, carrying out full property redecorations in vacant properties.

• Prepare and redecorate all internal areas of void properties to a high standard ready for re-letting.
• Work independently or as part of a small team to meet turnaround targets and quality expectations.
• Complete all associated works efficiently and safely, ensuring homes are presented to an excellent standard for new tenants.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience as a Painter & Decorator, ideally within domestic or social housing settings.
• Strong skills in wall preparation, painting, finishing, and general decorating techniques.
• Experience working in occupied homes, with a respectful and tidy approach to work.
• Ability to carry out minor repair work, such as patch plastering or caulking.
• Knowledge of different paint types, materials, and application methods.
• A trade qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Painting & Decorating or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements, including COSHH awareness.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Full, clean UK driving licence and access to transport.

Desirable Skills

• Basic experience in additional trades such as tiling, plastering, or mastic/sealant work.
• Experience in snagging or aftercare roles.
• Previous work on planned maintenance, empty homes, or social housing projects.
