Senior Electrical Project Engineer | Glasgow | Permanent Role

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Engineer to take a central role in the design, delivery, and through-life support of complex electrical systems and products. The work will span from new product development to system upgrades and modifications for equipment already in service.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across engineering, production, and supply chain to deliver compliant, high-quality, and cost-effective solutions on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical engineering design input across new systems and products while supporting the existing portfolio.
  • Respond to technical queries, proposing practical and compliant engineering solutions.
  • Generate part numbers, bills of materials, and identify suitable materials and components.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation including specifications, proposals, test procedures, and reports.
  • Ensure all designs align with internal processes, standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Approve engineering drawings and documentation produced by the wider team.
  • Where relevant, manage and mentor junior engineers, supporting their technical development and performance.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for a motivated engineer with strong technical capabilities, able to take ownership of projects from concept through to completion. You'll be adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • A record of delivering high-quality work to time and budget.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in electrical and electronic system design.
  • Sound understanding of HV and LV electrical distribution systems.
  • Experience in performing design calculations and selecting cables, connectors, and penetrators.
  • Proficiency in Structured Text (ST) and other IEC (phone number removed) languages using the CODESYS platform.
  • Competence with CAD tools and related design software.
  • Familiarity with IEC 61508 and EMC standards.
  • Knowledge of marine or defence design standards (e.g. LR, DNV, DEFSTAN) is desirable.
  • Experience specifying or managing traction battery systems up to 150 kWh.
  • Degree-qualified in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
