Decluttering and Dehoarding

Covering all of Bristol and South Gloucestershire

Please bear in mind the role can involve heavy lifting and sometimes working in fairly filthy conditions. The ability to work on occasions on a Saturday would be a bonus but is not essential.

Respect My Stuff Ltd is a specialist company dealing with people who hoard. Part of this process inevitably involves the removal of hoarded items and extreme clutter, often of an extreme volume. We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable person to join our small team on an 'as and when needed' basis. In addition to the removal of hoarded items the role will also involve assisting in the longer term dehoarding process (typically working in pairs with a client for three hours a week over a three month timeframe).

The job is physically demanding and can involve dealing with all sorts of waste and associated smells

The successful applicant will also receive specialist training on all aspects of the role including the mental health implications associated with hoarding and the need to present at all times with empathy and understanding.

Unfortunately we can only offer the role on a casual worker basis. IT IS NOT A FULL-TIME POSITION.

Main activities and requirements

• Preferably have some experience in rubbish and household clearance, including having an eye for effective assessments of waste volume and weight and confident in using waste facility sites and recycling centres
• Happy to undertake physically demanding lifting, loading and sorting
• Be prepared to undertake ongoing training to assist with our dehoarding practitioners in dealing with people hoarding in their homes
• Excellent customer care delivery
• Flexibility in working times
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work on your own at times, but mainly as a 2–3 person team
• Excellent record keeping
• Compliance with Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) requirements and our Covid-19 Policy
• Assist with household cleaning following clearance or dehoarding
