This is a 12 month fixed term opportunity for a
Senior Research Manager
to join the NIHR NOCRI Collaborations Team. This role acts as a key link between the Collaborations Team and the commissioning teams across the NIHR Coordinating Centre, supporting strategic and ad hoc initiatives across the NIHR's funded infrastructure.

The post holder will coordinate cross NIHR initiatives, including the Multiple Long Term Conditions (MLTC) Collaboration, mental health programmes and Translational Research Collaborations. They will foster collaborations, support research funding processes, provide intelligence and analyses and lead new initiatives, events and strategic activities.

Responsibilities include managing a portfolio of funded projects, monitoring impact, negotiating funding agreements and supporting knowledge dissemination. The role also involves line management of a Portfolio Analyst and maintaining strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will help enhance working practices and contribute to delivering NIHR's collaborative research agenda, acting as a model of professional excellence across teams.

Required Criteria

  • Degree in
    biomedical, health, or social sciences
  • Knowledge of the
    National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) architecture
  • Experience in
    commissioning, portfolio management, or collaboration activities
  • Experience or awareness of
    commercially focused research or research commercialisation
    , including understanding of
    intellectual property
  • Strong
    people and stakeholder management skills
    , with the ability to delegate and influence effectively
  • Well developed
    analytical and complex problem solving skills
    with a solution focused approach
  • Proficient in
    IT applications
    , incl. Microsoft Office and Google Suite

  • Experience of working in a research funding environment

Compensation, Benefits & Working Arrangements:

Salary: £48,600 to £51,300 per year

Location: Twickenham, London / Hybrid working model

Contract Type: 12 month Fixed Term Contract, Full Time

Working Hours: 37.5 per week

Annual Leave: 25 days, plus UK public holidays
