An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the interdisciplinary courses that are within Education and Society. We are specifically looking for someone with an academic and practice background in Early Childhood and the Graduate Practitioner Competencies associated with this discipline. The post will involve contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and typically involve teaching face-to-face and online. Wider professional responsibilities will typically include working on Saturdays (generally for student recruitment), twilight teaching, engaging in partnership work with employers, research and enterprise development. The post requires the ability to involve and liaise with key stakeholders related to early childhood.

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide an outstanding and research-informed student learning experience
  • Demonstrate creativity and innovation in the effective development, planning, delivery and assessment of learning
  • Demonstrate thorough subject knowledge of early childhood education
  • Integrate face-to-face and online teaching and learning
  • Apply their relevant professional/industry experience to the student experience
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Adopt, adapt and use digital devices, applications and services to support the student experience
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the University's values of inclusivity, trust, sustainability and aspiration

Qualifications

Essential;

  • Degree qualification or equivalent in relevant subject
  • Relevant professional qualification

Desirable;

  • Master's degree in relevant subject
  • Professional Recognition (HEA) Fellow (D2) or teaching qualification recognised by HESA, or willingness to obtain within an agreed timescale
  • Doctorate in relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion

The School of Education and Society, located within the Faculty of Education, Arts, Science and Technology, is a multidisciplinary team with a wide range of courses including Early Childhood Studies, Education Studies, Initial Teacher Training and Social Work. It is a research-active community of educators that aims to inspire a reflexive and self-directed community of learners and researchers.
