Spalding Golf Club is a thriving and well respected members club with a membership of over 1000. The club regularly hosts county and national golfing events and has recently undergone a full clubhouse refurbishment and expansion.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a hardworking and motivated greenkeeper to join the team.

Reporting to the Head Greenkeeper, applicants must have the following:-

Job Purpose

Support the Head Greenkeeper in the maintenance, conservation, and enhancement of the golf course, working collaboratively as part of a professional and friendly team.

Principle accountabilities

Working within a team of Greenkeepers under the direction of the Head Greenkeeper to ensure the golf course is maintained to a high standard

To carry out mowing operations in all areas of height definition on the course using pedestrian and ride on machinery. This will include all machines to be prepared, maintained and operated safely in accordance with associated manuals and risk assessments

Changing of holes, tee markers and course signage, plus care of tee mats, driving nets and maintenance of the bunkers

To manage turf operations including top dressing, over seeding, divot repair, vert-cutting and scarification, aeration, turf laying and fertiliser supplement application

To use strimmers and brush cutters to control vegetation plus basic forestry maintenance using chainsaws, hand saws and loppers

Weed control using chemical and non-chemical methods

Maintenance of the irrigation system, ditches, drainage channels and fences

Leaf and debris clearance plus litter cleaning

Ensuring the Greens Department buildings and premises are kept in a safe and secure manner

To assist in the maintenance of the golf course maintenance vehicles and equipment

To maintain plant such as the wash down area, fuel and pesticide storage ensuring both correct usage and H&S compliance

Perform other tasks commensurate with the role as delegated by the Head Greenkeeper

Qualifications

Qualified to NVQ Level 2 (essential)

PA1 PA2 and PA6 spraying qualification (beneficial)

Previous golf course and use of grounds machinery and equipment experience

Experience in ride on and pedestrian machinery (including set up and daily maintenance)

Confidence to use machinery eg hedge cutters, strimmers etc

Able to produce work of a high standard at all times

Maintain Health & Safety in the workplace

Have a full driving licence

Able to work weekends and Bank Holidays on a rota basis

Be flexible to the needs of the course during busy periods

Skills

Ability to work as part of a team and independently

Have a can-do attitude with a flexible approach to work and prioritising tasks

Ability to work outdoors in most weather conditions and carry out heavy lifting

Good sense of humour

Have a commitment to personal development
