HGV Mechanic

Pellows are looking for a workshop Mechanic to join their growing team with an immediate start. Pellows is a family run business, who have been running for almost 60 years. We started out as one man and one lorry and now have over 30 employees with 30+ vehicles.

The role will be workshop based and will require you to carry out basic mechanical tasks on a wide range of HGV, plant and domestic vehicles. This a great learning opportunity for someone looking to expand on their basic mechanical knowledge. We are looking for an experienced Mechanic who is hardworking. They need to be able to work as a team and confident to work on their own. Some on the job training will be provided on areas of specialist equipment in our fleet. Qualifications in mechanics are desirable but not required if substituted with sufficient experience. There is opportunity to learn welding, fabrication, auto electrics and painting.

The role is for a minimum of 45 hours a week. You will be expected to work a minimum of one Saturday a month. Plenty of overtime available.

A works van will be provided for use. You will be required to attend call outs on a rota basis and day to day roadside breakdowns of Pellows fleet.

Additional job requirements:

• Good housekeeping
• Use of in house stock control system ( full training will be provided)
• Occasional yard maintenance
• Help with breakdowns
• Full UK driving license with the means of getting to and from yard at TR3 6LG.

Weekends and on call work are expected.

Hourly rate is negotiable
