Schedule: Waking nights on a rolling rota

Work Location: On-site / In person

About the Role

We are a family-run, 4-bed children's residential home providing care for young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Waking Night Support Worker to ensure the safety, stability, and wellbeing of the children in our care throughout the night. Your role will be essential in maintaining a calm, secure environment and supporting continuity of care between night and day teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent emotional and practical support during night hours
  • Ensure the safety, welfare, and security of all children in the home
  • Respond calmly and appropriately to incidents, disturbances, or emergencies
  • Complete regular checks and maintain accurate logs and records
  • Work collaboratively with the daytime team to ensure seamless care
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and implement individual care plans effectively

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in residential childcare or EBD settings (preferred)
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (preferred)
  • Calm, observant, and empathetic, especially under pressure
  • Strong communication and record-keeping abilities
  • Able to work independently and remain alert throughout the night
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred)
