Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic activities co-ordinator to coordinate engaging programmes and activities within our care home environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in residential care, dementia care, and possess excellent communication skills. This role involves planning, organising, and leading a variety of recreational activities tailored to enhance the quality of life for our residents. The activities co-ordinator will work closely with care staff to ensure activities meet individual needs and promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall well-being.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities that cater to the interests and abilities of residents, including those with dementia.
- Organise group outings, entertainment sessions, and therapeutic activities that foster social engagement.
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents' needs and preferences, ensuring activities are personalised accordingly.
- Lead activity sessions with enthusiasm and sensitivity, maintaining a positive environment for all participants.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programmes, making adjustments as necessary to maximise participation and enjoyment.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback for continuous improvement.
- Ensure all activities comply with health and safety regulations and promote a safe environment for residents.
- Foster strong relationships with residents, families, and staff to enhance overall resident satisfaction.
Skills
- Proven experience in assisted living, residential/nursing home environments or senior care settings.
- Knowledge of dementia care and best practices.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan engaging programmes tailored to diverse needs.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- Compassionate approach with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of older adults through meaningful activity engagement.
- Ability to motivate others and lead group activities confidently.
