Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Onboarding Product Owner to lead the development and continuous enhancement of our onboarding processes and products. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring our solutions deliver a seamless, engaging, and efficient experience for client servicing teams, while meeting the expectations and requirements of Trustees and EBCs.

What you'll be doing:

  • Defining and owning the product vision for the Onboarding value stream, aligning with the company's client services strategy and digital roadmap, while articulating product benefits and visualising the roadmap to guide development, piloting, and release strategies
  • Championing a scheme-first mindset by ensuring solutions enhance colleague experience and deliver intuitive, accessible, and valuable services for pension schemes, while driving continuous improvement of technology products supporting DB scheme journeys
  • Applying design thinking to explore innovative concepts, prototype solutions, validate ideas, and gather early feedback
  • Translating business and user needs into clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria, while prioritising and managing the product backlog to balance member value, business impact, and technical feasibility
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders—including engineering, design, customer service, compliance, and client relationship managers—to ensure alignment and readiness for digital change, acting as the voice of the customer in agile ceremonies
  • Partnering with UX/UI designers, engineers, and data analysts to deliver high-quality digital experiences, monitoring product performance through analytics and feedback to drive continuous improvement
  • Ensuring Consumer Duty compliance by reviewing system and process changes to safeguard customer outcomes
  • Leading teams effectively, applying consistent management practices aligned with Group policies and the Partnership Agreement to maximise business performance

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in business, technology, or pensions
  • Certified Product Owner (PSPO, CSPO, or SAFe POPM) or proven equivalent experience
  • Deep understanding of Defined Benefit pensions and member servicing models
  • Proven track record as a Product Owner or Product Manager, ideally in digital member/customer experiences within financial services or pensions
  • Strong Agile delivery experience, including proficiency with tools such as JIRA and Confluence
  • Knowledge of digital design principles, accessibility standards, and customer journey mapping
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to simplify complex requirements into user-focused solutions
  • Leadership capability to manage multiple teams within a matrix structure

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance -related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Healthcare Plan (permanent employees only)
  • At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years' service. There's also the option to buy and sell holiday
  • Competitive family leave
  • Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice (permanent employees only)
  • There are the many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
  • In 2023, some of our workspaces were redesigned. Our offices are great spaces to connect and collaborate and have your wellbeing at the heart

Additional Information

At L&G, we believe it's possible to generate positive returns today while helping to build a better future for all.
