What team will you be on?

This role is in the Core Web Platform team, which is in WebTech Solutions Platform Infrastructure group, part of the Technology and Operations division. The team is responsible for the technology that drives BlackRock's public-facing websites.  The team has specific responsibilities for fund and advisor data, web platforms and user/advisor identification, tracking and engagement that powers iRetire, BlackRock's Advisor Center, BlackRock's and iShares public web sites. The Core Web Platform powers 125 websites across 40 different countries and locales. These websites serve around 4 million individual visits per month, providing comprehensive data about our investment funds on ~ so-called product pages, enable roughly 1500 updates of web content and 10000 document uploads daily, as well as provide authentication for registered users globally.

BlackRock's public facing websites play a vital role in being the public face of the business, as well as fulfilling the company's regulatory duties in showing Fund information in every market that we operate in. You will be part of a team responsible for maintaining the platform that underpins these websites and moving the platform to use industry standards and cutting-edge technology. 

 

What will you be doing?

As an Associate in the Web Platform team, the candidate will:

  • Work as a DevOps Engineer in the Budapest office on initiatives to modernize the platform, working with partner teams to enable their projects, and play a key role in running and continuously improving our Public Cloud

  • Work with developers, test engineers, project managers and technical leads, understanding and refining release engineering related requirements (CI / CD, builds, development and test environments), designing and implementing solutions, clearly documenting deliverables.

  • Enhance the team's development infrastructure towards modern cloud environments and an increased level of automation.

  • Stay abreast of the new technologies; integrate them with the platform to further enhance the usability and efficiency of the software development lifecycle of BlackRock's public web ecosystem.

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the areas of DevOps, release engineering or development infrastructure

  • Strong knowledge in Java, Git, Maven or Gradle, and Jenkins

  • Experience with Apache, Nginx and Tomcat in Unix/Linux environments is a plus

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, as well as experience working with Public Cloud providers such as Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud is an advantage

  • Experience with GitOps tools like Argo CD is a plus

  • Some experience with Java backend service development is preferred

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Willing to work with global project teams spread across several time zones

  • Knowledge and interest in the financial services industry domain is a plus
