Location: Leeds City Centre (Hybrid – 2 days in office / 3 days remote)

We're looking for a Lead Development Engineer who combines deep hands-on technical skills with proven leadership and mentoring experience. You'll guide a talented engineering team while remaining actively involved in design, coding, and solution delivery.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of a next-generation ratings engine using C#/.NET, Azure Functions, and Service Bus within a microservices and event-driven architecture.
  • Act as both technical leader and hands-on engineer, setting standards for clean, performant, and maintainable code.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentoring to engineers, promoting best practices in software design, testing, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with architects, product managers, and stakeholders to translate business goals into robust, scalable solutions
  • Champion DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code within an Azure environment.
  • Drive technical excellence, continuous improvement, and innovation across the engineering team.
  • Ensure high levels of system performance, resilience, and scalability in a fast-paced, cloud-first environment.

What You Bring

  • Extensive experience developing complex applications in C#, .NET 6+, and ASP.NET Core
  • Strong background designing microservices and event-driven architectures using Azure Functions, Service Bus, and Event Grid
  • Deep understanding of object-oriented design, SOLID principles, and clean architecture
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire a team of engineers, balancing hands-on coding with technical strategy and people leadership
  • Practical experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions) and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Bicep or Terraform.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, code reviews, pair programming, and modern software engineering practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, coach, and lead by example.
