The Control Room serves as the central command for the entire airport, ensuring the seamless operation of general airport functions and implementing emergency procedures. It receives real-time data from various systems at East Midlands Airport, including the airfield, aircraft stands, fire alarms, emergency points, baggage carousels, terminal, flight information displays, and airfield security.
Primarily, the Control Room is tasked with ensuring the airport's effectiveness and efficiency across these key areas: Airfield Operations and Fire Control, Airport Operations and Security Control.
As Control Room Operative you will work in a watch based system, reporting to the Airport Duty Manager, and take responsibility for the safe and seamless running of the airport.
The main functions of this include
Ensuring Safety Standards, and implementing emergency airport procedures.
Managing and controlling various positions - Airfield Operations, Fire and Security Control.
Monitoring security across the airport site.
Acting as the first point of call for issues and enquiries involving customers
Answer day-to-day inquiries from airlines, handling agents, and customers.
Make announcements throughout the terminal building, and play a key role in emergency incidents, including responsibility for requesting ambulances.
What will make you successful in the role?To thrive in this role you will need experience in a busy operational environment, preferably an airport or similiar. You will be required to handle high pressure situation and conflicting priorities on a regular basis. Communication and decision making skills, especially on radio and telephone are therefore also vitally important. The role involves using various technological tools for communication, monitoring, and coordination. IT proficiency is fundamental for efficient performance.
Control Room or Aviation Experience is highly desirable - such experience provides a valuable background in undertstanding the dynamics of control room oprerations, and aviation experience will enhance your adaptability to the role.
