An established organisation within the UK construction sector is looking to appoint a Sustainability Consultant with strong experience in building certifications. This senior role will support the delivery of sustainability outcomes across a diverse project portfolio, taking ownership of certification pathways and advising project teams throughout the lifecycle of each scheme.

This position would suit a sustainability professional with a background in certification frameworks who is looking for a principal-level role with scope to influence sustainability performance across multiple projects.

The Role

You will act as a key technical point of contact for building certifications, helping guide projects from early design through delivery. Working with internal teams, consultants and external stakeholders, you will support the development of certification plans and ensure documentation, evidence and processes are aligned with project requirements.

The position involves involvement across a range of live schemes, ensuring sustainability objectives are met, documentation is maintained, and certification processes are followed effectively from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of building certification pathways (BREEAM, LEED, WELL).
  • Develop project certification approaches and advise teams on compliance and integration.
  • Manage certification trackers, documentation, assessments and submissions.
  • Liaise with internal teams, consultants and supply chain partners to ensure requirements are understood.
  • Carry out site visits to monitor progress, evidence collection and sustainability performance.
  • Provide guidance and training to teams on sustainability best practice.
  • Identify risks to certification progress and support resolution.
  • Contribute to wider sustainability initiatives within the business.

About You

Essential:

  • Experience delivering BREEAM, LEED or WELL certifications within the built environment.
  • Background in construction, consultancy or a similar setting.
  • Strong understanding of certification documentation and assessment requirements.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Comfortable working across office, home and site locations.
  • Based along the M1 corridor / North London region.

Desirable:

  • BREEAM AP, LEED AP or WELL AP credentials.
  • Experience engaging senior stakeholders to drive sustainability outcomes.
  • Familiarity with LCA, carbon assessments or environmental management systems.
