Chapman is one of the last remaining UK based bag manufacturers. We make everything by hand using cotton canvas and leather. We strive to make the best using only the highest quality materials.

Chapman is looking for a Batching Team Member to join its rapidly growing team. Applicants should have a good attitude towards work and genuinely interested in making the best possible goods. Candidate should have good numeracy skills. A good attitude and good communication will be as important as experience and skill.

We work a 4-day week, Monday to Thursday 7am to 5pm which gives our workforce Fridays off.

The Job will require you to, but is not limited to:

  • Cut cotton webbing handles to length according to instructions.

  • Cut and prepare brass zips to length according to instructions.

  • Insert rivets and press studs to bags using our riveting machine.

  • Mark up cloth, cotton webbing and leather for the sewing team.

  • Muster all materials into separate jobs ready for the sewing machinists.

  • Assist in the Quality Control area during busy times.

  • Assist in the Leather cutting room during busy times.

  • Assist the Batching Supervisor during stock checks.

  • Set out work for sewing machinist ready for the next week of sewing.

  • Keep a tidy work area.

Report directly to Batching Supervisor and indirectly to General Manager.
