Stover School is seeking to employ a Site Maintenance & Security Person. Hours of work are 40 hours per week (Thursday - Monday), with out of hours "on call" responsibility. There is the possibility of on-site accommodation, subject to the probationary period.

Overall Accountability

As part of the Maintenance Team, you will be responsible to the Head of Maintenance and the Estates Manager. Your primary role will be the daily maintenance of upkeep of all areas of the school site and ensuring that pupils and staff within remain safe at all times.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Opening up and locking up the site at the beginning and end of each day, in rotation with other staff.
  • Being a recognised Fire Warden for the site in case of fire.
  • To maintain the site properties.
  • Being "on call" security and emergency response, including call outs for fire/intruder alarms, in rotation with other on-site staff.
  • The portering of deliveries, moving of furniture and other assorted manual tasks.
  • The use of hand and power tools for repairs, maintenance and a variety of different projects.
  • Basic plumbing and electrical tasks and repairs.
  • The operation of school vehicles as required for external trips, collection of materials and travel around the site.
  • Monitoring and maintaining school's utilities and services, such as our biomass heating system.
  • Occasionally supporting other departments where necessary.
  • To support the set up of school/external events.
  • Supporting and escorting contractors on site.
  • To undertake such other tasks as may be requested reasonable from time to time by the Head of Maintenance of the Estates Manager.
